Will the toilet fit and can you still remove the container?
A toilet that fits on the floor can still be awkward to service. This campervan toilet space planner draws the fixture, front removal space and a front-left inward door sweep inside a rectangular compartment. It checks the lid height too.
Share the dimensions with a conversion partner before cutting furniture. The separate clearance checks make it easier to identify whether the conflict is footprint, front access, vertical space or the door path. A full-size mock-up remains the practical follow-up.
How to use this planner
- Enter the compartment and toilet dimensions from an actual drawing.
- Set the fixture position and modelled front-left door sweep.
- Read the five checks and negative margins, then test the full carrying path with a mock-up.
The calculation
Footprint fits when x + width ≤ compartment width and y + depth ≤ compartment depth. Front removal needs y + depth + clearance ≤ compartment depth. Vertical clearance needs toilet height + lid clearance ≤ available height.
A worked example
An 800 × 1,000 mm compartment with a 400 × 500 mm toilet at x = 350, y = 50 leaves 450 mm ahead of the toilet, enough for the example 300 mm removal clearance.
Example inputs are demonstrations. Replace them with your own measurements, prices or documented requirements.
Assumptions and limits
This is a rectangular layout check using your dimensions. Door opens inward from the front-left corner; the shaded quarter-circle shows its swept area. Touching the toilet counts as a collision. Removal clearance is assumed directly in front; compare the diagram for door conflicts during servicing. Side removal, pipes, ventilation, wall taper, user comfort and fixings need separate checks. Use the manufacturer installation drawing; this does not certify an installation. The removal-area check also flags overlap with the drawn door sweep. Confirm the real door position and full carrying route with a mock-up.
Questions about this calculation
Does passing the geometry mean the installation is approved?
No. This rectangular model excludes structural suitability, regulations, fixings, ventilation, pipes, accessibility and comfortable use. Those remain part of the actual installation plan.
Can the planner model a sliding door or side-removal container?
Not directly. Set the door radius to zero to omit the inward sweep, but front removal is still the modelled path. Draw different door and removal arrangements separately rather than treating this result as their clearance check.
