Trelino Evo M review: does it fit your campervan routine?

A research-based Trelino Evo M review covering space, container access, Standard versus Plus+, servicing and the checks to make before ordering.

Original Evo M footprint sketch, 33 cm wide by 39 cm deep, with separate checks for lid opening, container removal and user space; not an installation drawing

The Trelino Evo M is worth shortlisting if you want a ready-made separating toilet and can give it a usable space, easy container access and a realistic servicing routine. Its tidy closed shape is only the start of the fit check.

This Trelino Evo M review is based on manufacturer documentation. We have not sat on it, installed it, tested odour control or measured durability. Our verdict concerns the documented layout and the decisions a campervan buyer can check before spending money.

Our verdict: a sensible candidate for a fixed-height weekend-van setup, provided servicing is straightforward. If stored height or a box-shaped layout matters more, compare it with WandaGO and BOXIO before deciding.

Start with the container journey

The current Evo M product page lists a 33 by 39 cm footprint, 36 cm overall height, a 5 litre liquid vessel and an 8 litre solids vessel. It describes separately removable containers. These are manufacturer figures, not our measurements or a guaranteed interval between emptying.

Draw the footprint on paper or cardboard and place it where the toilet would go. Then imagine the lid open and a container being lifted out. Where will your hand go? Can the service route clear a bed frame or cupboard? Where could you put a container down without balancing it in an awkward position?

The important measurement is the usable space during that task, not just whether the closed toilet enters the cupboard. Check the latest dimension drawing with the seller before building tight furniture around it. Our campervan space planner and service-access rehearsal help you work through that distinction.

Capacity is a planning input, not a weekend promise

A vessel’s nominal volume does not tell you how long your household can use it. User numbers, use away from the van, cover material and your chosen servicing margin all affect the routine. We do not turn the maker’s capacity into an independent claim about days of use.

Try a hypothetical travel plan with two people. Write down when an appropriate servicing opportunity would be available and what happens if you miss it. Then repeat the plan for an extra night. If the second version depends on filling a container to the brim, change the routine rather than assuming the advertised capacity solves the problem.

Use the capacity and service-interval guide to make your assumptions explicit. It remains your responsibility to arrange an appropriate waste route for the places you visit. “Composting toilet” in a product name does not demonstrate that collected contents are finished compost.

Standard or Plus+: compare the actual bundle

The product page distinguishes Standard and Plus+ versions. Its Plus+ list includes a privacy flap and a level indicator. Before paying extra, ask which specific task those additions would improve in your van and confirm that your selected variant contains them.

Do not compare a bare competitor with an accessorised bundle and call the difference a verdict on value. Make one list covering the body, vessels, any needed accessories and delivery. Keep optional upgrades separate until you know why you want them.

That also gives you a better question for the seller: “Which items in this package do I need for this layout?” is more useful than assuming the highest specification is the right choice. The ownership-cost comparison lets you use your own quotes rather than relying on a price that may have changed.

The lid and ventilation deserve separate decisions

Trelino explicitly warns that the closed soft-close lid must not be used as a seat. A van design that needs the toilet to double as a stool therefore needs reconsidering. We would not try to solve that mismatch by treating the lid as stronger than its instructions allow.

The product page describes a fan as an additional installation option. Do not assume a portable body means every ventilation arrangement is already supplied or that a particular installation is suitable for your van. Ask the manufacturer about your proposed configuration before making holes or changing the product.

We cannot confirm odour performance from a specification sheet. Our ventilation planning guide explains the questions to resolve; the current instructions for your actual model take priority.

Leave room in the routine for cleaning and replacement parts

Before ordering, find the current cleaning instructions and the replacement parts for your selected version. Check compatible bags or liners, the membrane closure and any accessory consumables. We have not tested substitute cleaners or a replacement schedule.

Ask the seller to clarify any difference between its product page and the manual supplied with your unit. We do not set a universal membrane replacement interval here because the applicable version and instructions need checking. A low-maintenance claim is not a reason to omit these items from your ownership plan.

When we would choose something else

We would revisit the shortlist if the fixed body obstructs living space, the service route requires moving major furniture, or your intended use needs a different height. Those are practical reasons to switch, even if you like the Evo’s appearance.

Our comparison considers different constraints rather than declaring one toilet suitable for every van. Read the three-product shortlist for the stored-height and box-format alternatives, then repeat the same access rehearsal with their dimensions.

Before you place the order

Confirm the chosen size, Standard or Plus+ variant, current dimensions and accessories, delivery destination, and the returns rules that apply after opening or using a sanitary product. An advertised returns period alone does not establish the eligibility of a used toilet.

If the footprint, servicing route and ownership routine all work, the Evo M deserves a place on your shortlist. Compare our picks and check the current regional merchant offers. No tracked affiliate links are active until programme acceptance and the destination have been verified.
